Weight Loss Mantras

We all wish to be healthy having an attractive body devoid of excess flab. Most people consider dieting and working out as the main solution for this. This is true since you cannot lose weight without following a balanced diet plan. Nor can you build good muscle without regular workouts. However, what we often fail to consider is the motivation and a positive attitude to keep us going on a ‘dieting plus working out’ plan for weight loss. That is where ‘Weight Loss Mantras’ can help. Weight loss mantras are chants to overcome unwanted urges for unhealthy foods and motivate us to build self-confidence to lose excess weight once and for all.

Mantras are an ancient practice rooted in the ancient Indian texts known as the Vedas. The word means “a tool for the mind” as the mantra is derived from two Sanskrit words – manas (mind) and tra (tool). A mantra is a sound a sentence, or a phrase to help us focus our thoughts, our feelings, and our intent for any particular objective. When done regularly, mantra vibrations sink deeper and deeper into our consciousness, helping us to eventually feel its presence as an intrinsic powerful force for achieving the given objective. Also, we must understand that mantras are different from meditation. Meditation is a physical technique, done with or without reciting mantras.

We all need a daily weight loss mantra to stay positive, focused, and in tune with our emotions. This is especially important when we are trying to get rid of excess weight. One of the major causes of excess weight is emotional eating, which is nothing but a strong urge to have a certain type of food. The difference between emotional and actual hunger is that we can eat anything conventional when hungry, while emotional hunger drives us to a particular, usually unhealthy food, without any actual need. Moreover, physical hunger can be satisfied, while emotional hunger can never be satisfied at all.

Often, we emotionally snack when anxious, stressed, or bored. Plenty of little stressful events throughout the day pile up and before you realize it, you are digging into an unhealthy fried snack or junk food. There are quite a few practices designed to fight emotional eating, and chanting mantras is one effective way of doing it. While there can be no single powerful mantra for weight loss, there certainly are many to help meet the goal. Some sample mantras are listed below, but you can phrase your own for the best results:

  1. I will not let food control me. I will control myself for taking food.
  2. I will have food only when hungry.
  3. I deserve to have an attractive and healthy body.
  4. I am shaping my body by choosing to eat only when hungry.
  5. I will not take food for pleasure at the expense of a healthy body.
  6. Choosing not to eat when not hungry is easier than being unhealthy.
  7. I should choose long-term joy over the immediate urge to eat without being hungry.
  8. I take good care of my body because it does so much for me and it’s the only one I’ve got.
  9. Is eating this product consistent with my weight loss goals?
  10. I give my feelings the attention they need and shouldn’t eat to avoid them.
